When we interact and observe the church of this generation, we may perceive that “grace” is not just most misunderstood by the believers of today, but is also the most misunderstood word of today. But this misunderstanding is not a misunderstanding of theological teachings. This misunderstanding is manifested in the hearts of believers, and extends from their hearts to their lives. According to the doctrine, most believers know that the world has sinned, and God has given us grace through the atonement of His only begotten Son... For it is by grace we have been saved through faith and this faith is by God’s grace <Ep 2:7-8>. Paul also talked about how he blasphemed God and was a violent man in the past, but the grace of God was poured out on him abundantly such that he not only had faith to believe in God but also had love to love God, until he became an apostle, and was able to bear sufferings and persecutions for the sake of serving the Lord <1 Ti 1:12-14>. Therefore, when we see a person who is very spiritual and loves the Lord (like Paul), just when we want to attribute these to a person’s merit, we find that it is a result of God’s grace. Or when we see a person full of sins and desires, we also cannot judge him for long. This is because who knows that the grace of God may come upon him. In fact, we all seem to know these doctrines and principles, but when one truly understands the grace of God, it is displayed in his heart. For example, when a person becomes more and more talented and everything he does goes well, is he more humble and dependent on the Lord, or does he believe in his own set of experiences and methods? Or if a person's gifts and talents are very limited, how can he face his own limitations? Does he belittle himself, often feel inferior and be filled with self-pity or does he use his lowliest conditions and gifts for the Lord? Or some people only look at their abilities in their serving. Once they exceed the boundary of their abilities (time and energy), they will start to retreat. But there are those who see the need for the kingdom of God and continue to ask the Lord for grace, and as a result, experience grace upon grace. All these reveal the grace in one's heart. In addition, it is not difficult for us to see that some believers are grumbling while serving in their ministry, such that everyone sees them working hard for the Lord. Such a life and serving gives stress to others and causes others not to see the grace of God. Therefore, Paul said, "I work harder than all of the apostles — yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” <1 Co 15:10>. Therefore, when a person with grace in his heart does everything, whether it is serving, going to work, managing issues, etc., what he does points people to God, not to himself. No matter what advantage he has, even if he is very blessed, he understands the mystery of the gospel that he hears. He is not troubled because others do not understand, but he endures everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory <2 Ti 2:10>. In fact, this is gracious light. When grace comes upon a person's heart, there is light in his heart that allows him to see God's presence and work, knowing with assurance that all things are from Him, and through Him and for Him <Ro 11:36>. The grace that comes from Him is not exhausted, but becomes more and more. But at this point, some people may say that we live in a world of evil and injustice. Man will trample on this grace or abuse it. Sometimes, people are lazy because of grace, take advantage of others, or make excuses for their weakness, or even continue to live a sinful life. So how does God's grace work at such a time? Here, God's grace will be turned into a holy light, and this light will illuminate people, such that the deeds of darkness in them will be exposed, and their conscience will rebuke them <Ep 5:13>. Those who are rebuked will be revealed by the light. Those who are thus illuminated must be brought to the point of humility, that they may receive the grace of God. Therefore, in a church full of gracious light, regardless of who you are, you cannot follow the Lord with your own selfishness and pride. A person will soon perceive the darkness in himself. Such a person whose perspective is illuminated will naturally perceive the desires and hidden sins in the hearts of others, but he definitely does not judge others, but instead has compassion on them. Therefore, only a church that is illuminated by gracious light can love one another and bear one another's burdens. If a church is not illuminated by gracious light, even if it has good doctrines, forms, size, etc, the brethren in the church will base on what they know and behave hypocritically and begin to imitate spiritual patterns. Even though the mouth often says, "Thank the Lord for His grace, praise the Lord for His grace," but what is in the heart does not reflect true humility. Soon, the enemy's slander will come, and human pride, comparison, disagreements, and judgment will gradually emerge. Therefore, we need to understand the doctrine of grace correctly this year, and then through regular prayers, receive a heart that is illuminated by gracious light.
