恩典是一个最基本的福音信念,但可能也是许多信徒最片面认识的。当神白白将祂的独生爱子赐下时,我们不能理解其救赎之恩是何等的伟大,我们唯有在自己极小的范围与感悟了神的爱,但神却是要用我们的一生来使我们认识祂浩大之恩。确实,福音的整个核心是将人指向恩典。律法使人知罪是将人引到恩典。人因信称义之后更是要发现他的信心是出自神的恩典。只有当人领受了恩典,他才能有感悟性的改变。在律法的光照与指责之下,他知道了自己的罪,他因此懊悔但他并非能改。但唯有恩典将他的心柔软,也同时叫他的心坚强。其实,我们在一般启示里也能够看到这一点,就例如一个坐过牢的囚犯若不得着社会给他的恩典,他很容易又会重蹈覆辙。我们责骂了孩子之后,若不与他辅修关系,在恩典中与他们相爱,他之后不能有真正的改变。倘若神用律法将我们的罪指出来,若不以恩典来挽回我们,我们不能爱神,也毫无能力行善。所以,恩典是福音的核心了。无限的恩典,无限的改变。但往往,我们的罪性使我们歪曲神的恩典。我们在自己的偏见、狭窄、需要、主观等甚至误解了神的恩典,所以那真实的改变没有临到我们生命里。但神的恩典若是真临到了我们的生命,恩典的功效是继续维持我们的信心,也同时不断光照与炼净我们,使我们深知神那无穷的大爱,以至我们不但是欢欢喜喜的领受神的救赎,就是在患难中也是欢欢喜喜的能够得见祂的荣耀《罗5:3》。神的恩典确实拯救了我们,但也同时要将我们的灵性带到能在各种的患难、困苦、饥饿、赤身露体、危险、刀剑,都能看见神在基督里的爱《罗8:37-39》。确实,在一个有罪的世界里,神的恩典不断被误解,甚至也被滥用来达成人的理想。我们里头的罪性也是不断的扭曲神的恩典,使我们渴盼自己所向往的安康与满足,却不求神那善良、纯全,可喜悦的旨意。事实上,在这个已经黑暗堕落、罪恶泛滥与天天敌挡神的世界里,我们已经是活在里外都有仇敌的环境里。所以,我们一定要切切的认识神的主权与恩典是并行的。神主权性的恩典并非是叫信徒免除试炼,脱离患难,乃是限制那恶者的凶恶,然后在患难中扶持我们,直到我们得着最终的胜利。《牧师在遭遇患难中的学习 –开车意外、宣教中患病、教会进贼、等》。在这每次的患难中,我们不信的心很容易会向神产生疑惑,甚至会强嘴说“何必劳师动众,神若有恩典,不如就避免这样的患难发生就好”。这就是人性的堕落所带来的,使他不能看见恩上加恩。这样的人要恩典,但同时想要自主。他想要得恩典的果子,但却不要恩典的源头。所以,当我们在认识神恩典的救赎,若是否决神的预定与拣选,就会在那错中复杂的过程中怀疑神的信实,我们也就无法享受到救赎带给我们的确据与能力。若是在认识神恩典的带领中不寻求主的美意,只按着肉体的喜悦行,我们的生命就不能继续进入恩典所带来的改变。
Grace is the most fundamental belief in the gospel, but it is also something that many believers only know superficially. When God sends His only begotten Son unconditionallly, we cannot comprehend how great this salvational grace is. We can only understand God’s love within our extremely limited sphere and emotions, but God wants us to use our whole life to know the vastness of His grace. Indded, the core of the whole gospel points people to grace. The law causes people to know their sins and guides them towards grace. After one is justifed by faith, all the more he must discover that his faith comes from God’s grace. Only when one received grace, he can have the transformation in his sensibilities. Under the light and rebuke of the law, he knows his own sin and because of that he is remorseful but he cannot yet change. Only gace can soften his heart and at the same time strengthen his heart. Actually, we can also see this in common revelations. For instance, if an ex-offender does not recive the grace from the society, he will likely go back to his old ways. After we have reprimanded our children, if we do not mend the relationship and let grace in to love each other, they will not have true transformation. If God uses the law to point out our sins, but does not use grace to redeem us, we cannot love God and will be powerless to do good works. Therefore, grace is the core of the gosepl. Unlimited grace, unlimited transformation. However, often our sinful nature will cause us to distort God’s grace. In our own biasnesss, narrow-mindedness, needs and subjectivity, we will even misunderstand God’s grace, and because of that, we do not see true transformation in our lives. If God’s grace has truly come into our lives, the effect of grace is that our faith would be sustained, and the grace will continually enlighten and refine us, so that we can know deeply the infinite love of God. It will be such that we will not only joyfully receive God’s salvation, but even in trials, we can still rejoice and see His glory <Ro 5:3>. The grace of God has indeed saved us, but it has also brought our spirit to a level where we can see the love of Christ in all kinds of trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword. <Ro 8:37-39> Actually, in a world with sin, the grace of God will be persistently misunderstood, and even misused to attain man’s ideals. The sinful nature in us will also continuously pervert God’s grace, such that we yearn for the peace, wealth and satisfaction we desire, but not seek the good, pleasing and perefct will of God. In fact, in this dark fallen world, where sins abound and oppose God daily, we are living in an environment where there are internal and external enemies. Therefore, we must thoroughly know that God’s sovereignty and grace are in tandem. God’s sovereign grace does not absolve believers of trials, neither does it help us escape tribulations. Grace restrains the wickedness of the evil one, and then supports us in our hardships, till we received the final victory <Lessons learnt by Pastor in all kinds of tribulations - traffic accident, falling sick during missions, break-in at church> In every of these tribulations, our unbelieving hearts will easily raise doubts towards God. We may even spitefully say, “why do we need to mobilise so many people, if God has grace, why not just prevent these things from happening?” This comes from man’s fallen nature, causing him not to be able to see grace upon grace. Such a person wants grace, but at the same time, wants to be sovereign. He wants the fruits of grace, but not the source of grace. Therefore, when we understand God’s grace in redemption, but deny God’s predestination and election, we will doubt God’s faithfulness in the complicated processs, and we cannot enjoy the power and assurance that salvation brings. If we know in His grace, God guides us, but we do not seek the Lord’s perfect will, and instead act according to the desires of the flesh, our lives cannot continue to enter the transformation brought about by grace.
