圣经说：人都是虚谎的，唯有神是真实的。试问什么是真实的呢？是我们肉眼所见的吗？是我们的现况吗？还是我们的理想呢？一般上，人都在三方面取得真实感。一，就是自己的想法。当一个人里头已经有一种的想法，他透过那自有的想法来查考与研究一切都似乎有真实感。无论是科学家，政治家，经济家，他们都有自己的一套思想，他们也自认自己的想法行得通。甚至是平凡人都对生活、钱途、人际、经济等也都有想法。在这想法里，人自己领悟他认为是真实的，但人的想法往往受到时间与时代的挑战。当新的时代与新的事件临到，人的想法往往遭受变化。二，就是自己的感受。感受就是我们心里的知觉，原来本应该受到真理影响与引导，以此结合肉身来荣耀神，但是当人堕落之后，全然受到罪和肉体的影响。从那时起，我们都对周围的环境、事物、人产生自我的感受，也以此为真实的。但是，过不久后我们又会发现这感受也因着外在情况条件的改变而跟着改变。人可能渐渐会明白不能靠感觉，但还是无法逃脱这相对的真实感，也以此而行。三，就是自己的生活。人往往会将自己正在进行的事情或常处于的环境当做真实的。所以，人的生活本身就是一个现实了，也被人视为真实。例如：殷勤工作的人常以工作为一切，照顾儿女的父母常把儿女的生长与发展当做一切，一个专业球员会把训练和竞赛当做一切，这是因为他们正在进行与接触这些事情，他们的生活与集中力都环绕在这些事项事物。纵然这没错，但很多时候人没有进一步思索自己在生活处事的终极目的与长久价值，也没察觉自己现在这么专注的很快就过去。当人生不同的阶段临到，人就会发现到自己曾经这么卖力追求与集中争取的只不过是过眼云烟，一下子消散了。所以“想法、感受、生活”有真实感吗？有！但这一切绝对不能取代神的真实。相反的，我们要在神的真实里寻求祂所赐的想法，所给予的感受，和所喜悦的生活处事，好叫我们现在所想、所感受、所做的有永远的奖赏，也能实现出现在的意义（神的美意）。但是，今天很多人以自己所认为真实的推翻了神的真实（真理的源头）。这是因为他们专以自己的利益出发。一旦神所说的不配合自己的想法，感受与理想的生活，他们就因此就质疑神所说的，也轻忽神的永能与神性。在今天的经文里，我们又会看见保罗与假想中的犹太人辩论。当他在《2:17-29》揭露了犹太人的内心世界，指出他们对律法和真受割礼的误区，他预想有些犹太人必定起来反驳他，与他辩证，所以他在这里再次以假想辩论法来面对这些实际论点。

The bible said, “Every man is a liar, only God is true. What then is true? Is it those seen through our naked eyes? Our current situation? Our ideals? Generally, people have the sense of realness from three areas, first: their own thoughts. When a person has a type of thinking in him, he will use this thought that he’s formed to test and explore all things, and see if they feel real. Be it scientists, politicians, or economists, they all have their own sets of thinking and they also believe that their thoughts are workable. Even a typical man has thoughts about living, future, interpersonal relationships, finance etc. In these thoughts, men discover that what he had thought about was real, but man’s thoughts are often tested through time and era. When new era and new things come, man’s mindset will often be influenced. Second: our feelings. Feelings are the awareness in our hearts. It is meant to be influenced and guided by truth, and unites with our flesh to glorify God. However, since the fall of man, we are influenced by sins and flesh. From then on, we start to have self-centered feelings towards the surrounding, things and people, and we deem them as true. But as time goes by, we will once again realize that these feelings are always transformed by the changing external conditions. Man may slowly understand that they cannot rely on feelings, but they cannot escape from the relative realness they’re feeling, and fall into it. Third: our living. Men always deem the things they’re doing and the situation they are in as real. Therefore, living itself is a reality, and it is also perceived as real by men. Eg: people who work diligently always put work first; parents who take care of their children always put the growth and development of their children first; a professional soccer player often treat the training and match as everything – this is because they are doing and coming into contact with all these things, their living and focuses are centered on these things. Even if this is true, man often don’t go one step further and ponder the ultimate goal and eternal value of their own living and things, and they have not noticed the things they’re so focused in will come to pass soon. When man enter into various stages of life, they will discover that all that they once pursued, and focused in fighting for, were just passing clouds, vanishing into the thin air in a twinkling of an eye. Hence, are “thoughts, feelings, living” true? Yes. But all these cannot replace God’s truthfulness. Instead, we need to pursue the thoughts, feelings, and living that are pleasing in His eyes in God’s truthfulness, so that what we think, feel and do can bring eternal rewards, fulfilling their current purposes (God’s perfect will). But today, many feel that what they think is true and rejecting the true God (the source of truth). This is because their starting point is their advantages. When what God said is not compatible with their thoughts, feelings and ideal living, they will doubt what God said and neglect God’s eternal power and divinity. In today’s scriptures, we once again see Paul arguing with an imaginary Jew. When he exposed the inner world of the Jews in <2:17-29>, pointing out the misunderstanding they had towards law and true circumcision, he expected the Jews to counter-attack and argue with him, so he once again used an imaginary argument to handle such practical arguments.
