Throughout Proverbs, the wise man and the foolish man are often differentiated. But how does one become wise or foolish? In fact, we all live in the spiritual world.  The spiritual realm is constantly influencing us through what we think, see and hear. If our spirit receives wisdom, it would naturally emit wisdom; if we are constantly disturbed by the foolish spirit, we would also infect others around us with our foolishness. We must reflect why is it that we keep encountering things that make us carnal, frustrated, worried and fearful? Why are we often upset with people or things? Why are we often tempted? The answer is simple. Because our spirit is constantly accepting ‘foolish thoughts’. Because man has fallen (separated from the word and spirit of God), we do not yearn for wisdom and the true peace that comes with it. Instead, we seek only success and health of the flesh. In reality, all things come under the wisdom of the Creator. He sets the principles for all things, and determines the relationship between man and all things and people. He is wisdom (Word and the infinite Spirit). Within Him, there is all glory, power and knowledge. So who can receive His wisdom? Those wise ones who fear Him as the Holy One, those who believe in the incarnated Jesus Christ as the only Saviour, and those who receive His Spirit as life. The ultimate aim of the Proverbs is not to exalt humanities, ethics, morals or culture, but to exalt He who created all things, the God who sets all the rules. We who believe in Him, should be totally humble before Him, seek Him in all things, and hold His commands in high regard. This way, His Spirit of wisdom will convict us in all things, so that no matter whether we are on earth or in heaven, we will reign with Him. May we all receive His wisdom in Proverbs, rely on His Holy Word to rule over and manage all things, save, heal and bless all peoples.
