往往，我们做牧者与父母的过度的教导与牧养并非是一件好事。有时我们能拥有最理想的成长环境也并非是件好事。其实，神将环境赐给人，就是要他实习怎么透过神的话来顺着圣灵引导。当我们遇到实际的挑战而无法应付时，我们就会被带到“非祷告依靠主不可”的光景。那时，可能我们常常很形式的祷告就会转为专心依靠主的祷告。我们一般的基督徒生活就会转成谨守遵行主的话来度日。所以，我们做父母的在教导孩子当中，不能只有单教导却不给他们挑战。我们也不能指定他们要走一个理想的道路而怕他们遭遇失败。确实，神是借着天国的异象与环境来圣化我们的兴趣、天资与意志，然后无限的发挥这些特质里的潜能。
As shepherds or parents, it may not be a good thing to overtly teach or shepherd. It may not be good to have the most ideal growing environment. Actually, God gives men the environment in order for him to learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. When we face practical challenge and cannot handle it, we will be led to a state of “cannot don’t depend on the Lord”. At that moment, we may become more vigilant in obeying the Word of God in living our lives, focused in praying to the Lord, compared to how we used to pray ritualistically. Hence, as parents, in teaching our children, we should not merely teach and not give them the challenge. We cannot fix an ideal path for them to walk on, and fearful of the failures they may meet. Indeed, God sanctifies our interest, aptitude, and determination through the kingdom vision and environment, and unleash the potentials in these attributes infinitely.
