Though Jesus knew all men, He continued to evangelise. <Jn2:23-25; 3:1-2,6-7,12-13,16; 4:9-10,14-16,18,22,24-26>
Scripture
reading:<Jn 2:23-25>
1. Keep on evangelising
until regeneration happens.
1) In <Jn 2:23-25>, Jesus was on guard against everyone who believed in His name, so what shall we do?
- He knows all men, but we do not.
- Jesus not entrusting to people may be limited to <Jn 2>.
- We are not to keep no accounts of evil (we should not keep being suspicious).
- But God may give us the spirit of discretion.
- Regardless, we have to keep evangelising just as Jesus did.
- i.e., we keep being hopeful of God's election when confronting people with Christ.
2) Pray for the change of heart, for yourself and for the seekers.
2. Have the biblical gospel message ready.
1) There is only one gospel, and it is Christ-focused.
2) Person of Jesus: who He is, what He did (objective).
3) Jesus's benefits to us (subjective).
3. How to confront people with Jesus?
1) Let's look at two examples from <Jn 3, 4>.
Scripture reading: <Jn 3:1-2,6-7,12-13,16> <Jn 4:9-10,14-16,18,22,24-26>
2) Considering at least 2 aspects of the gospel / evangelism.
(1) Personal redemption.
(2) Mercy to the afflicted.
3) Some suggestions on engaging people.
(1) Personal testimony: the story of your faith.
(2) Do you have some people in mind?
(3) Initiating or probing topics/questions.
(4) That people may be convicted by the truth.
(5) What heavenly kingdom looks like: Church and Community.
